October Is Ending Soon? Huh?
Ah, a post from when I actually have a moment to chat! The schedule lately has been a bit insane. But those who know me know this is my life. Am I the master of my own undoing? Absolutely. That’s what makes it fun. *insert dry humor*
I’ve recently had the pleasure to step away from introverted blog writing and indulge myself in meeting more people. Largely this was due to the blog being disabled for so long. Now that it’s up and running again, I still feel like I haven’t completely reconnected with it. Facebook really has replaced a lot of aspects of the day-to-day blog. But there will always be something about having my own domain of writing that will be irreplacable.

I’m pretty excited about Halloween @ The W. So far, this particular night is the high-point-gig of my career. Let alone being lucky enough to have a spot in the regular rotation anywhere. This year’s costume will be an Alladin Sane’s Ziggy Stardust with an A-Ron twist. I’m only sad there are so many people who won’t be able to make it, but it’s totally cool.
Tonight, the Washington Blade will apparently be announcing the recipients of this year’s Best Of Gay 2009 Awards. I was among the nominees this year, joining DJ’s Wes, Matt Bailer and Obey on the ballot. Regretfully, my previously scheduled gigs will prevent me from attending. But I have people planted to keep me updated. It has been an utter PRIVILEGE to be recognized with them this year, especially since I didn’t think I made anywhere near of a dent to make it past the nominations. I’ve never been nominated for anything like this before, so that alone feels awesome.
ALSO – GREATEST of luck to all of the nominees in each category…especially Sean Welker, also known as Secret Worm, who was nominated for Best Local Artist. He is a large part of where I am today as a DJ, so I was especially pleased to be on the same ballot as him. I miss him dearly and hope he’s freezing his cute little ass off in Chicago. ;-)
Work is crazy, people, but I’m surviving. Among that and a lot of recent post-31st-birthday epiphanies, I also recently started an alternate-blog-venture with two friends called “Of Gods…And Monkeys” – a bit of wisdom, a bit of crap. I’m looking forward to the writing opportunities that are coming my way in this regard. It will be a good chance to step outside of my normal style and learn a bit. And learning is good.
Learning is always good.
