Pomplamoose Is My Voice Today

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I have discovered the value in not being able to talk. Mind you, it’s not what I thought it would be. It is more like a test of will power. I know I have to shut the fuck up if this is going to get better.

It doesn’t hurt. I feel great with a little extra sleep…. But it’s just that I’m still not sure if it’s allergies or something else, so I’m staying away from people. As a result, however…I’m being much more textually vocal. And I’m binge buying music. This can’t be good.

Unless of course, you consider Pomplamoose. I found them via a cover they did of Telephone, by Lady Gaga. Then I watched them on YouTube and was very impressed with their video-style. (Every song is filmed in what looks like the same room.) So they get to be my voice today.

Seek them out. There are two albums on iTunes and they are dirt cheap. Support their quirk, for today it is mine.

Return Of The A

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

I am testing out a new piece of software called MacJournal. If I end up getting used to it, like it, etc, you’ll see more posts from me going forward. For now, here’s some highlights.

        - I opened Indigo @ Tabaq Bistro last night in NW with DJ C-Dubz of Baltimore. The event is a Jacob Pring Production and was a very interesting time. The best part of the night is when I broke out a remix of the new Morel single and this guy started playing his trumpet to it. It was like we were in the studio. He sounded great and so did the remix. So BIG thanks to Morel. I can’t stop listening to Death Of The Paperboy on repeat.

        - Apparently I haven’t been getting voicemails since February. Quite a few important messages were stuck in the queue until AT&T helped me correct the problem. Luckily it was nothing earth-shattering, but still. What a pain!

        - My self-imposed absence from physical activity in general is ending soon now that the weather is doing something right. Today I have no voice, but I know we’re at the end of the tunnel!!

        - We are moving to New York at the end of the year, tentatively. So we’ve been purging the house. There will be a Big Gay Give Away party at the house soon. Stay tuned.

        - Speaking of tunes, have you heard Little Dragon guest on Gorillaz “Plastic Beach” yet? Or have you heard Paradise Circus from the new Massive Attack album “Heligoland”? Get on that.

        -This weeks remaining gigs are…

                Touch-It Thursday @ Science Club
Saint Patsy’s Friday @ Green Lantern
Dress Saturday @ MOVA with C-Dubz

        - April approaches, and so does a new promo! I have collected a great list of recently released should-be hits and it will be much more cohesive than the last few moody jobs. Keep your eyes peeled.

        - I am working on covering a Morel track in Garage Band, but he doesn’t know it yet. I haven’t really brought it up yet…sorta been working on it for a couple months. I like it so far, which is saying a lot. I don’t actually truly like a lot of what I write.

        - I am Lt Comm 6 on Star Trek Online. Josh and Sam are Rear Admiral. Dorks.

A Peek @ Some Of A-Ron’s Music

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I wrote this up recently about the iTunes series I run on this here website. The motivation for writing it all down was to give a prospective employer a good look at the music I play. And I also thought you’d like a look at it.

Over the years I’ve posted 50+ playlists to the iTunes store. Each series is a separate idea with its own motivation and approach. I think you’ll see the point as you read on. You can click the links and hit the the iTunes store to hear previews. Unfortunately some sets are old enough that some of the songs have been removed from the iTunes lists because the store no longer carries the tracks. So the complete lists are included here.

Coming Now! (Or…I’m Coming!)

Monday, March 30th, 2009

It’s early, and you know what that means! It means I have time to write you an overdue entry. It seems everything happens on Facebook now. But here’s what you need to know:

You can now become a fan of “A-Ron” on Facebook.

Be:Bar Blackout Party 9p-3a, Apr 4Music by A-Ron

Quite literally, as I will be performing some work of my own while spinning that music you listen to while the lights are out. Sneaky bastard, eh?

Be:Reinvented – Coming Soon - also with Music by A-Ron

That’s right!  I’ll soon be double dipping! Touch-It Thursday will continue at Science Club 5 to 8. But as of May 7, I will start the routine of packin my shit and runnin to the next gig. After I am done at SC for the evening, I will spinning for Be:Reinvented, at the afformentioned Be:Bar. My set will run from 9 to 11 and will not repeat anything you hear at Science that evening! So get ready to actually follow me if you want to hear it all!

Will You Be #14?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Be the next to be featured on this here website for your taste in tunes! Get onto iTunes and compile a list (approximately 78 minutes long for CD convenience) that you would play in a modern lounge while socializing and sipping your drink. Send your list, along with the address of your blog (or not) and a lil blurb about yerself to this email address (making sure to reply to any spam confirmation you receive back or I won’t see it). You can even send me your picture if you want!

I’ll take care of posting the list to the iTunes store with a similar description.  Then you can send the link to your buddies and promote purchasing music!  I’ll also write a post on it, and add a link for your playlist on the right side of the site. Your selections will be featured as I play at Science Club on Thursdays. Help promote the purchase of music! :) The previous guests are listed below. Can’t wait to hear from you.  ENJOY!

Past·Guest·Room·Sets (and the blog sites of the Guests…)   Links to music require iTunes.

And remember – keep it interesting.  Nothing too mainstream if you can manage it.  This is about exploring the different things that are out there – something people might not have heard had you not pointed it out.  And for those guests that want to come back…all I need is another list!  Cheers!

Facebook SPAM: Finally Out To Make Your Dick Bigger

At 1058pm and 158am, I received an identical post from two different people (women) to my “Wall”. Facebook is the only service I have known to be SPAM free (save the constant application invites), so I am pretty concerned and disappointed. But I can’t say I am surprised. Matter of time, I guess.

Be watchful. Facebook SPAM is probably not your friend’s fault. But it could become bothersome to the Facebook community quicker than a fire in the ancient city of Alexandria. Here is a post of said SPAM….
